Mayu Shinjou’s racy shoujo manga gets a DS visual novel adaptation with Datenshi no Yuuwaku x Kaikan Phrase. Kaikan Phrase was originally published by Shogakukan as a series of eighteen volumes, and was also adapted into a TV anime series before the game version.

With gameplay similar to otome-ge pioneer Toki Doki Memorial Girls Side, the new Kaikan Phrase DS puts you in the shoes of series heroine Yukimura Aine in her pursuit of sensual delight. There is a main love interest — in this case it is Lucifer frontmant Ookouchi Sakuya, but you are also free to pursue other band members Yuki, Atsurou, Towa, and Santa.

Besides the typical dialogue selection screens, there are also touch-sensitive screens that you can poke to elicit emotions (both positive and negative) from your beau. When you are make a “good touch” (lol!), a voice sample from the character will be heard, but if your roaming hands get the better of you your boy will punish you with a decrease on the emotion metre.

Perhaps the only difference between this game and every other otome-ge out in the market right now, is the incorporation of a roulette mini-game starring Lucifer. You basically point in the touchscreen at the member that the rotating indicator stops on in the upper screen. You earn points with every correct answer, and that in turn increases your positive emotion meter with that particular member. Hey — it’s not much, but it’s a start.
